Who are we?
We are the Financial Systems Platform (FSP) team within the Financial Core Transactions Services organization. Our charter is to manage, enhance and support the Financial Systems for Expedia Inc.
This is a leadership position within the Database & Integration Engineering team. The candidate will lead and manage the database operations, provide technical direction and strategy for the core database administration solutions. This role reports to the Director of Technology for Database and Integration Engineering. The candidate should have expertise in all facets of the organization as it relates to this role. The candidate should have a deep level of technical knowledge and experience covering the Oracle database stack including the Oracle ERP Applications, Oracle Business Intelligence applications, Exadata platform, GoldenGate and RAC technologies. The candidate should offer an attention to detail ensuring Oracle s latest developments are taken into consideration while architecting our platform. The role will require the candidate to collaborate and work closely with system architects, development leads, Operations teams, PMO and others to come up with solutions and provide day-to-day support to their business needs. The role will also require the candidate to be a hands-on DBA as and when required.
The Database Operations team comprises Oracle DBAs located in Bellevue, WA and Gurgaon, India. We have a large Oracle database footprint across 2 datacenters (PROD and DR) and have recently launched an initiative to host many of our LAB environments on the Oracle Public Cloud IaaS offering. Our goal is to offer 7*24 support as we expand our global footprint.
The responsibilities for the DBA Manager include:
  • Delivery and management of project instances
  • Cloning of EBS Application and Database
  • Manage and coordinate the application and database patching processes
  • Manage EBS instances on the Oracle Public Cloud
  • Troubleshooting and resolving Application and Database issues
  • Ensure database standards and controls are maintained
  • Plan, enhance and execute database monitoring and alerts
  • Experience with Oracle RAC and ASM application, EBS R12. 2 applications and OBI applications
  • Manage the DBA team s work assignments via the JIRA ticketing portal
  • Manage the DBA related open SRs with Oracle support
  • Securing access control by developing and maintaining policies, procedures and controls
  • Manage Database performance and tuning by ensuring:
    • The environments are proactively monitored and optimized for performance.
    • We are meeting availability SLAs
    • Physical designs are geared to meet our scalability and archive and purge targets
  • People Management
    • New Project/Assignment Deliveries
    • Escalation Handling
    • Performance Reviews
    • Mentoring.
Your main responsibilities will include :
  • Improving the effectiveness of the database tools and services
  • Ensuring all the data complies with legal regulations
  • Making sure the information is protected and backed-up
  • Regular reporting to the teams you work with
  • Monitoring database performance
  • Improving the technology used
  • Building new databases
  • Monitoring data entry procedures
  • Troubleshooting
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 12 to 15 years as an Oracle DBA, Oracle Applications DBA, Oracle sysadmin and Oracle Application server administration (w/R12 experience)
  • Experience managing a DBA team in an onsite/offshore model
  • Experience with tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle ADI, XML Publisher and Workflow
  • Oracle RDBMS 12c product implementation, upgrades, architecture and performance tuning
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of Oracle backup and recovery methodologies
  • Experience in database reorganization, migration, capacity planning capacity, disaster recovery and high-availability
  • Highly skilled in SQL and performance tuning
  • Experience with software engineering principles and industry practices
  • Experience in definition and implementation of data management practices
Core Competencies:
  • Ability to lead DBA team in a fast paced environment
  • Excel in performance monitoring and tuning skill set
  • Experienced problem solving ability
  • Deep knowledge and experience in Oracle security principles, procedures, operational support and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
