The Advancement Services Department (consisting of philanthropy business support, advancement information, and data analytics) is responsible for the development, accuracy and maintenance of the alumnae/i engagement/fundraising database and supports prospect-management tools. The department manages the information and analytics that support the programming for the Offices of Alumnae/i Engagement, Annual & Affinity Giving, Corporate, Foundation, & Government Relations, Donor Relations & Stewardship, and Major & Planned Gifts.

The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement and manages a team consisting of four staff positions with the responsibility for record maintenance, data entry, reporting, gift entry management, and philanthropy business support. The Director of Advancement Services plays a key role in defining, interpreting, and supporting the business strategies, goals, and information and needs of the Office of Advancement programs.

The Director works closely with the Advancement Services team, the intra-department leadership team, and the Office of Communications to build strong, competent, reliable and accurate support for all of the fundraising, relationship development, events, and the engagement of boards, alumni, friends, faculty/staff, corporations, and foundations. This position also develops and manages the full scope of operations, services, gifts, and information management required by the Office of Advancement to support current operations and as well as anticipate opportunities for future growth.

The Director of Advancement Services is responsible for overseeing the "knowledge management" functions in advancing the College's fundraising and alumnae/i engagement goals. This includes (identify, develop, document, and implement) business requirements, business information management and analysis, and fundraising systems support. The Director monitors and maintains the integrity of the information contained in the database and determines how to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and measures of success.

The Director participates in the process of establishing and setting departmental goals; participates in high-level inter/intradepartmental and inter-divisional projects; manages contractor relationships; and manages a skillfully diverse team. The Director must be knowledgeable of trends and new products in supporting higher education advancement efforts and will be responsible for creating efficiencies with business processes to anticipate and meeting divisional needs. This position will ensures that all departmental team members have a solid understanding of fundraising and alumnae/i programs, strategies, and information systems, and are responsible for the integrity of the database and compliant with sound fundraising management policies (including CASE Management and Reporting Standards) and best practices.

In addition, the Director plays a vital role in all system data interfaces and data retention decisions. This position provides the leadership for data/system conversion projects to ensure program support continuum but also to implement system upgrades and enhancements for programmatic growth and expansion.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Required: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred: Master's Degree

Professional Experience:

Required: 3 years relevant experience in staff management and advancement services or development operations in a non-profit organization.

Preferred: 3 years relevant experience in staff management and advancement services or development operations in a higher education environment.

Computer Skills: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in relational databases to include abilities in query, reporting and information analysis; philanthropic statistical analysis and information management; generating visuals and presentations to convey analytics. Experience in database conversion processes, data workflow designs and project management. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple products software; general understanding of network topologies to include TCP/IP network infrastructures and topologies; understanding and usage of internet-based and SAS (software as a service) products and cloud-based computing environments.
