Primary Purpose:

Discover and appraise all residential and farm & ranch properties located within the appraisal district.

Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):

High School Diploma or higher. Must have obtained or working towards Registered Professional Appraiser (RPA) Certificate with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. Minimum of one year of successful experience in field of residential and farm & ranch appraisal.

Major Responsibilities:

. Discover and appraise all residential and farm & ranch property in the district.

. Discover and appraise all mobile homes located within the district.

. Defend appraisal district's residential, farm & ranch, and mobile home appraisals before the appraisal review board (ARB) hearings.

. Develop procedures to be used to effectively uimplement a timely and successful revaluation of all residential, farm & ranch, and mobile homes loacted within the district.

. Must establish good line of communications with taxpayers and/or taxpayer respresentatives.

. Keeps informed and complies with all state and district policies concerning primary job function.

. Observe professional and ethical standards of behavior in accordance with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation code of ethics.

. Maintain a positive, sensitive, businesslike climate in order to promote an effective relationship with the public and all staff.

. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

. Demonstrate skill in anticipating, managing, and resolving conflict.

. Assist taxpayers with questions, filling out applications, and any other customer service functions as needed. If the employee is unable to answer questions or perform needed functions then they are to see to it that the taxpayer is helped by somone.

. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Appraiser/Tax Collector.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

. Knowledge of all appraisal techniques.

. Knowledge of computer generated mass appraisal programs.

. Be able to use computer, printer, copier, and calculator.

. Above average communication skills desired.

. Must have vaild driver's license and be able to drive district vehicle.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):

Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in an acceptable manner, and maintain emotional control under stress in an offensive environment. Repetitive hand motions, prolonged use of computer, moderate lifting and carrying, ability to operate a motor vehicle, and work with frequent interruptions. Exposure to outdoor elements required in all weather conditions with moderate exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent walking, climbing, and exposure to uneven surfaces for walking purposes. Ability to measure properties accurately and photograph existing buildings.
