JOB SUMMARY:

Overall Summary of Function

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing and coordination of employee compensation. The Payroll Clerk will be engaged in a set of tasks to seek accurately and quickly carry out payroll procedures such as entering payroll information, calculating wages and facilitating payments. The position reports to the Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

At Minimum Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, garnishments, savings deductions, and job titles and department transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, 401K allotments, workers compensation and severance payments.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Collects and verifies timekeeping information for all employees.
  • Resolves inquiries regarding payroll from employees and upper management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to heavy. The temperature will vary from hot to cold depending on the weather.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At Minimum Training, Education & Experience

  • High school diploma/GED required (Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred).
  • Minimum two years payroll administration experience
  • Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Proven High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
