Work scope may include any/all of the following duties:

  • Test and repair GFM LRUs (Digital Electronic Control Units, cables, harnesses, etc.) for the Abrams production line without voiding supplier warranties, support production line with functional units, and test and prepare LRUs for shipment to Fort Hood, Texas, or other sites identified by the Government to support fieldings.
  • Uses extensive Abrams Tank expertise and mechanical knowledge to analyze parts and materials, and improve assembly processes.
  • Sort and inventory excess GFM hardware and material for disposition actions by GDLS and separate excess material from GFM kits not used in production.
  • Provide technical support for the assembly line on GFM supplied equipment and order spare parts that have been damaged or broken by assembly or material handling at Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC).
  • Communicate via phone and email.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required:

  • High School or equivalent education (eg GED); and
  • Minimum of 15 years specialized experience in working with/on tracked or wheeled ground combat vehicles in a military or civilian capacity, working directly with Program Management offices, and working onsite at military installations.
  • Requires Secret clearance at the time of hire.

Manufacturing environment- (noise levels) Work site is located at Lima, OH.

Physical Requirements
Light - work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to move objects. May involve walking in production facility where PPE is required.

Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

Other Essential Functions
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to work site is required. Travel to and from customer's locations may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
