The Role:

The Director of Human Resources will lead the overall functions of Human Resources services including policies, programs, recruitment, talent development, compensation and benefits for the entire EAH organization. Specifically, the position will be responsible for partnering with the business leaders, continuous improvement in culture, values, talent management, recruitment and employment for all positions, compensation and performance management, benefits administration, associate relations, retention and engagement, workforce training, development and governmental compliance.

This position requires excellent coaching and development, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. While the position resides in Wadsworth Ohio, there may be some travel to banner companies and lead HR functions across five locations. Report to Chief Executive Officer and supervise 2-3 HR associates.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Management

  • Develop organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; soliciting feedback, gathering internal and external information and analysing information to provide recommendations that enable organization strategic thinking, direction and course correction, improvement in associate relations, engagement and morale.
  • Establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational business objectives.
  • In conjunction with leadership team, drive change to improve company culture
  • Lead strategic human capital planning and implementation to sustain and grow the business
  • Propose and deliver programs that enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Oversee management and associate training/development to increase competencies
  • Develop and maintain a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs
  • Pivot HR areas of focus to guide the company through extraordinary times

Recruitment and Talent Management

  • Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching and counseling staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
  • Oversee the work with hiring leaders and develop effective and new recruitment strategies, interview, assessment, screening and background check processes to ensure that EAH is building a qualified pipeline of human capital. In addition, candidate will be responsible for DOL and FLSA compliance.
  • Coach leaders on performance management related issues.
  • Redevelop, deploy and enforce all employment related policies and procedures in the Associate Handbook.
  • Advise leaders in all associate disciplinary actions

Compensation and Performance Management

  • Develops human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Supervise and review direct reports.
  • Work closely with Payroll in assessing and implementing new technology to create efficiencies in payroll administration and human resources record keeping
  • Review EAH operations and assess job descriptions to develop departmental position bands with commensurate pay ranges
  • Coach, mentor and create a challenging, yet rewarding work environment

Benefits Administration

  • Benchmark data, administer and coordinate benefits programs including group medical, dental, life and 401K that allows EAH to be competitive
  • Ensure that associate benefit questions are answered in a timely and effective manner
  • Review current paid time off and provide recommendations. Evaluate and develop methodologies for more efficient tracking and accurate accounting
  • Maintain relationships with benefits brokers and negotiate on behalf of EAH to obtain the best possible pricing from benefits providers
  • Promote a culture of wellness by providing programs and resources.

Associate Relations, Retention and Engagement

  • Be a true advocate and champion of company values, associate relations, driving improvement of morale and overall culture. Have specific retention goals by department and continuously help leaders in making EAH be the preferred choice of destination for employment in all company locations
  • Develop recruitment, retention and associate relation strategies for hourly associates particularly for those that work in our distribution centers.
  • Oversee associate review and leader calibration processes
  • Supervise the design and delivery of associate retention processes and practices
  • Develop and implement team and morale building events, such as picnic and celebrations
  • Direct associate engagement processes and activities, such as surveys and feedback sessions
  • Manage associate communication, such as recognition and updates

  • Requirements/Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree human resources, business administration or organizational development required, Masters preferred
  • At least 10 years of related experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and influencing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including a strong ability in Excel
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Honest, ethical and handles things in a confidential manner
