Job Overview:

CB&I currently has an open position for an Engineering Technician based out of our Latham, NY location. This position will be performing a variety of field related remediation and treatment system operations and maintenance activities at several locations in New York. The Engineering Technician engages in the emergency repair and maintenance of treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation, and electrical equipment. This position will be responsible for the day to day performance of wastewater and groundwater treatment systems, pumps and associated equipment operations and to maintain regulatory compliance. This position will be responsible to complete minor maintenance and maintain compliance in waste storage areas. Additional responsibilities will include, Contractor field oversight, groundwater, soil and air sampling, classification of soils, soil boring/monitoring well log and report preparation.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

. Complies with the company core safety values.

. Evaluates processes and make necessary changes.

. Diagnoses problems and performs repairs in facilities and systems.

. Responds to call outs and after hours emergencies.

. May coordinate maintenance activities at the treatment facility.

. Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.

. Provides routine sampling, monitoring, and maintenance of monitoring wells.

. Performs treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment to assure proper operations.

. Conducts routine sampling and field testing of water and/or wastewater.

. Compiles data for chemical use and keeps records on equipment and plant operations

. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

. Ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.

. Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Treatment, Collection and Distribution systems.

. Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work.

. Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned

. Participates in an on call rotation on weekends, holidays and outside normal workday hours. Will be required to respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.

. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.

Complete work sheets and forms.

. Collect samples from wastewater installations, monitoring wells, soil borings.

. Receive and proceed with the transfer of chemical treatment products.

. Ensure the cleanliness of the equipment and the work area

. Clean treatment and filtration systems

. Monitor and carry out the routine upkeep of pumping systems.

. Carry out the routine operation of a wastewater treatment plant's installations.

. Handle the equipment of a wastewater treatment plant's installations.

. Carry out adjustments to the installations of a wastewater treatment plant.

. Detect and report operating anomalies on the installations of a wastewater treatment plant.

. Carry out the evacuation and dewatering of sludge.

. Carry out the routine upkeep of the materials and equipment of a wastewater treatment plant.

. Carry out simple on-site tests to check wastewater discharge compliance.

Basic Qualifications:

. Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER Certification and annual 8-hr Refresher Training.

. 2-yr College graduate or equivalent required.

. Applicant must possess a valid Driver's License and a good driving record.

. Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

. Must be able to load, unload, and move large equipment and tools.

. Must be able to access confined operational spaces (confined space entry training preferred).

. Ability to perform field assignments including environmental sampling activities.

. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

. Must have the ability to work independently and on project teams.

. Must have a minimum 2 years of experience.

. Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures and safe practices.

. The ability to successfully perform routine on-site maintenance and emergency repairs of treatment equipment is essential

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

. Technical/vocational school degree

. 2 or 4-yr College Graduate degree with an Engineering or Geology Focus
