Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

These positions are in Genomic Engineering Technologies within Technology & Discovery Centers in Tarrytown, New York. There are 3 openings for Summer 2020. Each opening is described below.

Position 1:
This student will work on projects in a rare class of genetic disorders called lysosomal storage disorders. This group is primarily involved in developing novel therapeutics to improve delivery to cells and tissues that are inadequately treated in enzyme replacement therapy of lysosomal storage disorders. The student will help test next-generation protein or AAV modalities in various in vitro assays.

Position 2:
This student will contribute to modeling lysosomal disease risk alleles in cell culture. There are many variants in genes associated with lysosomal diseases that are of unknown significance. We wish to understand how these variants are affecting the gene function. The student will generate cellular models using CRISPR to incorporate these variants, as well as assess the localization, post-translational modifications, and enzymatic activity of the variant proteins. This work will contribute to our efforts to identify patients that may be at higher risk for of developing late-onset lysosomal diseases.

Position 3:
We have been developing genomic engineered hiPSCs cells for disease modeling. This student will work on improving our current in vitro 3-D differentiation protocol to generate both hepatocyte and pancreatic co-culture organoids and analysis the RNAseq date using our recently established immuno-privileged hiPSCs for engraftment. This project is a part of our current collaboration with oncology group to humanize mouse liver and pancreas.
