Our Medical & Life Sciences Expertise Center (MLS-EC) is a new venture within ZS that will bring together industry leading thought leadership and deep domain expertise in Medical, Biostatistics, Regulatory, and Health Economics & Outcomes Research to help drive innovation in our offerings, deeper collaboration with thought leaders in the industry, and provide the depth of domain expertise required to solve our clients most complex challenges.

The MLS-EC - Medical Oncology Leader will have the opportunity shape our vision, build and lead a new team, provide industry leading thought leadership, and ultimately shape the practice of Oncology impacting the industry at scale. The leader will have the opportunity to do this in a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and values driven culture, working closely with colleagues who are smart, friendly, agile, effective, and passionate about driving positive impact for our clients and their customers.


Provide industry thought leadership (publications, webinars, and industry conferences) on a wide range of relevant Oncology topics (new treatment paradigms, patient centricity, innovative trial design, advanced analytics, technology, etc.) to increase ZS's reputation in the market, and to help set the innovation agenda in our Oncology offerings.
Provide leadership for the MLS-EC Medical Oncology team, including managing the team's work, developing team members, and prioritizing work to manage demand. This team will initially include 2-3 deep Oncology experts, but we expect it to grow to fulfill increasing demand. Over time this team will also include experts in other therapeutic areas (eg Immunology, potential others).
Actively participate on our Oncology Vertical leadership team, helping set the trajectory of the team as it builds out thought leadership and offerings designed specifically for our Oncology clients. This will require collaboration with specific Practice Area teams that intersect with Oncology, including but not limited to Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Real-World Evidence, Health Economics & Outcomes Research, Pipeline and Launch Strategy, etc.
Develop new and maintain effective relationships and collaborations with industry thought leaders and client-company opinion leaders, as a way of remaining at the leading edge of Oncology.
Provide Medical Oncology domain expertise to ZS clients and teams to contribute directly to the success of both the selling and delivery of highly complex ZS engagements requiring deep Oncology expertise.
Provide leadership to a community of Oncology practitioners, including those in the MLS-EC, along with others working in the Oncology Vertical, Practice Areas, or Client Service Teams who have an interest in deepening their Oncology expertise.
Provide input to the design and development of upskilling programs designed to enable ZSers not formally trained in Medical Oncology to gain the basic and intermediate knowledge required to be highly effective consultants working with Oncology clients.
Ideally, maintain an affiliation with an academic institution and continue Oncology clinical practice, research, and/or teaching 1-2 days per week (1 preferred, but flexible).
Maintain the highest professional standards for the impact and image of ZS and ZS leadership.


MD board certified in Medical Oncology with current license to practice
10+ years of Medical Oncology experience in clinical practice & medical research
A strong record of thought leadership & innovation demonstrating both depth and breadth of expertise in Oncology, as demonstrated by academic and industry trade publications; in high demand as a speaker at industry conferences
Prior consulting experience with life sciences organizations strongly preferred
A strong network of other thought leaders to draw from for potential collaborations
Strong communication skills and executive presence, including the ability to listen deeply, ability to distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand frameworks, and the ability to influence senior executives (AVP, VP, and SVP levels) to take action
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and collaborators with diverse perspectives
Ability to build high performing teams with diverse talents
Willingness to travel (once permitted and prudent given covid-19) to support success in the role
