About The Job

This position will be a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. This Inventory Procurement role functions as a lead in supporting a complex procurement effort of up to $20 million dollars in IT Hardware for all Global Field Support/IT Supply Chain, as well as for many other project managers and business units across American Airlines. This role is the Subject Matter Expert in knowing our Desktop/Airport Hardware needs as this ensures our customers' needs are met. This position must operate with integrity and strive to keep our department in compliance with our internal Asset Management policy.

Specifically, you'll do the following:

  • Understands business needs/requirements and strives to foster strong working relationships and open communication across the enterprise
  • Collaborates with business partners, including internal process owners, fellow procurement employees, technology distribution center (TDC) associates, project managers, desktop technicians, desktop managers, desktop engineers, and finance
  • Acts as primary contact with key suppliers/vendors for standard stock orders and special projects
  • Monitors the IT Procurement-Cherwell request queue, supports TDC Warehouse inventory demand, and pursues quoting and purchasing through the Quickbuy Procurement system to meet the demands of internal customers
  • Reviews all procurement requests and recommends solutions in line with Asset Management deployment policies
  • Manages TDC inventory footprint and collaborates with TDC Inventory Analyst to review deployment/demand
  • Ensures all TDCs perform the receiving function appropriately and assists with researching any inbound order errors and receivables issues
  • Enters data in support of Asset Management
  • Updates Cherwell catalog in order to align with offerings in Quickbuy.
  • Supports asset warranty protocol by working closely with internal teams and the vendor
  • Travels, as required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of IT Hardware Procurement experience
  • 2 years of general warehouse/inventory environment experience
  • Valid driver's licens
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain Logistics and internal Technology Distribution Center (TDC) processes
  • Proficiency with Inventory Management databases
  • Proficiency with Asset Management tools, such as Cherwell
  • Proficiency in handling operational issues effectively and understanding escalation, communication, and crisis management
  • Proven planning, delegating, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
  • Ability to coordinate, oversee, and deliver on multiple IT Supply Chain efforts, simultaneously
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a complex environment with high security standards
  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices
  • Ability to function under potentially high stress and challenging situations
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
  • Proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Access, Outlook)
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift at least 25 lbs., walk for sustained distances, bend, and stand for sustained amounts of time during project cycles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5+ years of IT Hardware Procurement experience
  • Airline industry experience, including business process and supporting technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, customer service, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
