Direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers. Identify and prevent credit risk and receivable related loss to the company. Lead assigned personnel to reach global objectives in quality and quantity improvements of the company's receivable balance. Design and implement efficient work processes. Improve utilization of technology and automation.


. Supervise the activities of a group of associates within the credit and collections department. Lead assigned personnel (approx. 5-10 staff) to provide high quality service to external and internal customers in accordance with Freeman's service vision: "Do it right. First Time. Every Time."

. Hire, train, mentor, evaluate performance, and discipline as needed assigned staff and accomplish defined goals.

. Support the team with creative and service oriented problem resolution, professional and technical knowledge and guidance, long term planning and result oriented performance maintenance.

. Oversee the workload distribution, prioritization and solicitation for payment of overdue accounts.

. Raise the level of professional skill and knowledge within the department through staff training, motivation, performance evaluation, discipline, goal setting, tracking and accomplishment.

. Collaborate with and supervise personnel to retrieve and identify data for credit review.


. Establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with customers, company departments and vendors, management as well as sales personnel.

Credit and Collection:

. Approve bad debt write-off decisions up to $1,000.

. Authorize settlements up to $1,000 in invoice reduction.

. Lead the appropriate escalation of collection activities as required by business circumstances. Approve collection escalation to agency assignment up to $5,000 per case.

. Approve credit memos up to $500.

. Lead the collection of advance payments from major clients.

. Collaborate with credit analysts and manager to review and approve customers with credit lines up to $100K. Recommend credit lines in excess of $100K to the Director based on thorough credit review.


. Coordinate collection effort with credit risk management objectives.

. Create reports and analysis as required.

. Other duties as assigned.


. Minimum 1 year of titled supervisory experience or two years of experience in a senior staff role with proven leadership responsibilities.

. Minimum five years credit and collection experience on commercial accounts, including two years on strategic corporate and association accounts.

. Credit decision experience in the business to business environment. Ability to analyze and interpret financial and credit decision related data.

. Minimum three years of involvement in escalated collection processes like agencies, law suits and bankruptcies.

. Proven verbal and written communication skills with all levels of customer contacts, sales personnel, colleges, vendors and lawyers. A high degree of diplomacy, detail orientation and accuracy are required in daily work and interaction.

. Knowledge of performance data calculations like DSO, DBT, loss ratio, past due percentages. Ability to calculate turnover and percentages. Thorough understanding of accounts receivable related information and co-relations with revenue and cash-flow.

. Proven experience in Microsoft Excel, Word,

. Working knowledge of Power Point, Adobe Acrobat

. College degree in accounting, finance or general business; may be substituted with successful track record of at least seven years directly related work experience, with a High School Diploma or GED


. NACM professional designations desirable (CBA, CBF), but not mandatory

. At least five years experience with ERP systems like: SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Lawson, Peoplesoft or similar. SAP experience
