Job Description

Job Title: EUS Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH 43215

Contract: 2-3 months (Note: This position is opening due to an employee going on medical leave)

Interview Process: 2 step process. Phone screen followed by an onsite interview. Will start with phone screens the week of 12/10, and then move to onsite interview.

Job Overview:

The IT Engineer job's primary responsibility and accountability is to provide technical design leadership and to oversee appropriate incident, problem, change, asset, configuration management of the technology environment within a technology domain.

This includes working with architects, program managers, IT analysts and service providers to effectively manage Infrastructure operations and support Infrastructure projects.

It also includes development and periodic review of processes and practices to ensure highly available operations and compliance with architecture standards and strategies.

Key outcomes for success include:

Highly available Infrastructure operations

Effective Technology portfolio management

Appropriate creation and/or review of Infrastructure design

Up-to-date asset and configuration management

Reduced cost via effective reuse, processes and adherence to standards

Essential Responsibilities:

Implement strategies to consolidate and protect IT assets

Maintain inventory of IT assets and related configuration

Collaborate closely with Architects and IT staff to drive objectives

Ensure adherence to standards and reference architectures for the domain

Develop/review design artifacts for compliance with architecture direction

Update product standards versions in assigned domains

Drive technology portfolio management discipline

Direct implementation of technology roadmap initiatives

Implement best practices and standards

Identify and manage technology risks

Communicate clearly and effectively with architecture, project/program managers etc.

Provide recommendations to be considered in developing the Technology roadmap

Detailed Design review

Incident & Problem resolution & Change review

Asset, Configuration & Capacity Planning

Infrastructure Service Catalog management

Procedures & Practices

Selection Criteria:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or relevant work experience

5+ total years experience

2+ years experience as an Architect or Engineer

1+ years of experience in project management

Ability to work effectively in an outsourced IT environment

Experience with and knowledge of Legacy and new computing architectures

Experience with managing technology costs

Experience working with a variety of technologies within a domain

Ability to identify group conflict and facilitate resolution

Experience with managing Service Providers

Ability to prioritize work effectively

Familiarity with the standards and best practices bodies, ieThe Open Group, OMG, UML, ITIL, CoBIT, CMMi, Six Sigma/LEAN etc.

Familiarity with the Energy Industry is preferred
