Position Summary:
The Technology Manager, part of the Common Architecture and Technology (CAT) group, is responsible for managing the portfolio of selected technologies for Rockwell Automation. Key responsibilities include the evaluation, definition and execution of system level requirements and the delivery of common technology assets to Rockwell Automation businesses and 3rd party automation product suppliers. This position requires an understanding of the automation market, competitive offerings, and customer needs to provide technology direction and implementation in Rockwell Automation control system products and services. This role interacts frequently with customers, product management, engineering, other Rockwell Automation businesses and third party partners.

Essential Functions:

This position acts as the key liaison between market needs, product management and technology research and development. The technology manager provides strategic technology and system level direction to business units and technology development teams in support of the business plan and company objectives. In addition, this position is responsible to develop, implement and maintain appropriate processes aimed at capturing and transferring market, technical, competitive and intellectual property to business units. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • As part of a cross functional team, develop system-level technology strategies to improve the security capabilities across the Rockwell portfolio.
  • Act as the champion for the overall security strategy with other Rockwell Automation businesses. Must be willing to work across boundaries to understand requirements, educate businesses and promote the security vision.
  • Gather market requirements for system-level security capabilities across all regions and markets.
  • Act as product owner for the development of security technologies and toolkits. Must be able to interface with engineering teams and define requirements.
  • Maintain alignment with other security subject matter experts across Rockwell.
  • Perform evaluations of internal and external technologies to ensure world-class technology development and utilization via various benchmarking activities and create innovative ways to address customer problems.
  • Attend technical symposiums and exhibits on industrial control systems to maintain knowledge on available and competitive technology and for presenting papers and seminars as appropriate to promote Rockwell Automation products.
  • Act as the champion within the CAT organization to obtain and maintain compliance with all applicable industrial security standards across all CAT technologies and toolkits.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree OR Equivalent years of professional experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of related experience and demonstrated knowledge of industrial automation applications
  • Academic major in an engineering field
  • Product management experience
  • Embedded software or firmware experience
  • Knowledge of industrial automation security
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and ability to collaborate with various functions and business units geographically dispersed to achieve position objectives
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
