Sales Engineer, Nielsen Connect - 30359

Client Services and Sales - USA Chicago, Illinois

The Sales Engineer on Nielsen's Sales Engineering team is responsible for selling applications within the Connected System platform and the Nielsen technology vision while solutioning technology directly with clients. In this role, the Sales Engineer will also partner cross-functionally with the Client Service account leads, Product Leadership, Operations, etc. to ensure there's a cohesive strategy and unified voice to the client. This role requires the ability to understand and synthesize the needs and value proposition of a wide range of FMCG clients - from marketing and sales business users to more technology-focused decision makers such as analytics and IT.

We are looking for a dynamic seller who is client focused with a strong background in data-driven SaaS solutions and application ecosystems in addition to an in-depth knowledge of the marketing research and data. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and independent worker with a demonstrated track record of leadership, building alignment, and creating and growing revenue around high-value technical SaaS solutions.

Ultimately, we are looking for a strategic closer that wants to be a part of a booming data and technology industry.


  • Individually prospect, pitch and close sales with both new and existing Nielsen clients.

  • Translate client data needs into viable solutions leveraging Nielsen's portfolio of apps within the Connected System

  • Understand client technology strategies and position Connected System apps as integral parts of that vision

  • Conduct storytelling product demonstrations that highlight the value the solution brings to the client. These demos must include both feature/function capabilities as well as the business insights and impact for the end-user.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the client's business and strategic relationships with key decision makers for targeted accounts. This includes demonstrating how the appscan assist them to achieve their business objectives

  • Consistently deliver individual sales targets every quarter.


  • 2+ years of experience in a revenue-focused Sales role within the DaaS and/or SaaS industry.

  • 5+ years of experience with technology and/or analytics in a CPG environment

  • Strong leadership and team building skills

  • Demonstrated record of creating and growing revenue

  • Strong knowledge of marketing research, technology, and general business models.

  • Bachelor Degree required.

  • Track record of successfully up-selling high value, complex technology or data services.

  • Ability to think analytically and leverage available assets to close sales.

  • Outgoing confident individual who is comfortable presenting to senior executives.
