Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Charlotte, NC

$120-127K +Bonus

The Company Environment Protection team provides capabilities associated with network, application, and infrastructure security controls and applies this knowledge to evaluate, test, and rate the effectiveness of these controls within the environment. Individuals in this space review and assess the potential risk of new industry threats, as well as implement and manage technologies capable of averting, detecting, investigating, and/or eliminating those threats. Individuals in this group may liaise with other organizations to help with the collection and management of security data required for legal or investigatory purposes. This position may also identify and analyze business practice irregularities including various information seeking violations and infractions and evaluate potential damages or recommend cost-effective measures to prevent recurrences.

The Environment Protection Expert oversees and reviews the creation of programs to assess current and emerging threats and the implementation and management of processes and technologies capable of averting, detecting, investigating, and/or eliminating those threats. Individuals at this level are recognized as experts by their peers and are expected to mentor and guide junior team members.

Oversee the research evaluation, design, implementation, configuration, documentation, and operations of complex technologies and processes designed to protect from current and/or emerging threats.

Influence and provide authoritative advice to Architects for any activities that impact technologies and or processes associated with current or new security controls.

Define strategies to conduct risk analysis and/or risk assessment both inside and outside the company (including physical threats, Internet attacks, malicious code attacks, national security issues and compliance with regulations) and provide recommendations and/or mitigation strategies to management

Oversee the creation and distribution of communications for all levels of leadership on current and/or emerging threats, along with action plans to drive remediation.

Oversees support and planning for technologies implemented to detect, avert, investigate, and/or eliminate threats to the security of the environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Directs the review and resolution of security incidents that impact the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of systems.
  • Oversee the evaluations, design, implementation, configuration, documentation, and operations of technologies and processes designed to ensure compliance of the environment with Federal, State, and/or Company policies/regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology or other related discipline with 10 + or more additional years related professional experience.
  • 10 + years' experience as a Security Engineer supporting software architecture development environments
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, Chef, and Puppet
  • Experience with common Scripting languages (Python, Ruby)
  • Strong experience with cloud security strategy, cloud provider ecosystems (Amazon AWS/Microsoft Azure) & migrating Enterprise from traditional data center Infrastructure, Application and Data designs to hybrid or fully-cloud enabled practices.
  • Familiar with DevOps and Agile methodology
  • Strong experience with cloud security strategy, cloud provider ecosystems (Amazon AWS/Microsoft Azure) & migrating Enterprise from traditional data center Infrastructure, Application and Data designs to hybrid or fully-cloud enabled practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation and orchestration
  • Possess clear understanding of security protocols and standards and have experience with software and security architectures.
  • Demonstrate an ability to bridge technology knowledge gaps between IT staff and corporate staff such as Legal, Compliance and Audit organizations.
  • Understand how to design and implement security tests in accordance with stated criteria
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX Windows Servers, MS SQL, Oracle MySQL, MongoDB
  • Experience understanding protocols, such as, SSL/TLS, CIFS, HTTP/S, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP/S, NFS, SNMP and DNS
  • Experience in networking concepts and services, such as, VPNs, IPsec, PKI and TCP/IP
  • Familiar with high-availability (HA) and failover implementations for network infrastructure and server systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Organized, responsive and highly thorough problem solver
  • Ability to work with minimal direction on a variety of, and sometimes ambiguous, requirement
