Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Employer Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

Employer Commercial Capital Business Control (WFCC) provides operational risk, regulatory control, financial crimes and business risk management services through an optimized model which leverages centralized functions and agile business focused teams to support sound risk management for the Capital Finance, Commercial Distribution Finance, Corporate Trust Services, Equipment Finance, International Trade Services, Strategic Capital and Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance lines of business. The risk management team enables efficient and effective execution of Corporate, Wholesale, and Line of Business programs, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with the overarching risk management priorities of Employer while meeting the unique needs of each business.

This position will coordinate Risk Committee governance and risk reporting within Employer Commercial Capital Business Control.

The team member will work horizontally across all teams within the WFCC Business Control Group to implement and execute a collective governance and reporting program in an effective, sustainable manner that meets enterprise, Wholesale, and WFCC requirements. This team member will report to the WFCC Governance Lead.

Individual Responsibilities

  • Execute the current WFCC quarterly risk profile report (aka Business Control Report), monthly senior management reporting, and the preparation of materials, facilitation, and preparing official minutes of the WFCC Risk Committee.
  • Evolving governance and reporting as directed whether from Wholesale Control, business needs, or through internal process improvements.
  • This team member will work in collaboration with team members who administer, facilitate, and provide oversight of the end-to-end WFCC Issue Management process due to the close connection issues tracking and reporting have with governance activities.
  • Coordinate and executed WFCC Risk Committee responsibilities including
    • Work with multiple and varying teammates to create Risk Committee materials
    • Coordinate, consolidate and facilitate approval of Risk Committee materials
    • Facilitate all meeting logistics
    • Create and archive required Risk Committee artifacts consistent with policy

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Employer policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in managing Risk governance processes and committee meetings including agenda management, material coordination and meeting facilitation.
  • Strong management reporting skills, ability to translate data into actionable information. Experience in the coordination, creation and review facilitation of reporting for the consumption by senior leaders and/or board of directors.
  • Understanding of best-practice risk management techniques applicable to the business activities and products that make up WFCC.
  • Experience with Employer's corporate organizational structure, operating model, and the systems necessary to support the WFCC risk program (eg SHRP, RCSA, ILD, DLP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and understanding of how they are implemented, managed and enforced in LOBs similar to those found in the designated LOB.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, including experience with virtual, matrixed leadership and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability that embodies the Employer Vision & Values, unwavering ethical integrity, and leadership competencies.
  • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive credible challenge and will do so independently when necessary.
  • Proven ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale.
  • Ability to design and implement control analytics and reporting to drive effective decision making and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and analyze issues when data is collected from multiple sources and know how to ask the right questions to obtain the information needed to properly assess potential risks.
  • Prior experience in managing and/or creating policies and/or procedures particularly those tied to regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
  • Knowledge of WFCC products and services
  • Ability to gain/use knowledge of the WFCC LOBs to identify, evaluate, measure and mitigate relevant risks arising from related operations.
  • Ability to understand and work with data, including creating alignment among various data sources, developing trends, and creating risk-based analytics from multiple information sources.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within the Governance group, across WFCC Business Control, and Wholesale Control, and with senior line of business associates and other support partners
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
