Role Value Proposition:

The Business Analyst position supports MetLife's Global Customer Solutions Group and is primarily responsible for defining and documenting requirements/user stories for one or more concurrent projects involving Legacy platform enhancements as well as digital transformation initiatives. Qualified candidates should be able to analyze business needs and effectively communicate with various stakeholders. This candidate will be responsible for working with business users & stakeholders to define and document business requirements/user stories and test strategies, as well as execute test scripts and track defects.

In addition, the candidate should possess the ability to serve as an expert resource on specific business functions and products. This will include leading work request meetings and partnering with IT & business areas to ensure business priorities are managed effectively. This individual will also assume a leadership role in release management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create business requirements, user stories and other required project documentations
  • Facilitate meetings, assist in the resolution of issues, and manage changes in scope
  • Create and administer program plans and documentation, and report on program status using defined templates
  • Develop knowledge base in conjunction with product SME's
  • Shadow current SME's and conduct thorough knowledge transfer
  • Communicate with senior program manager, functional area manager, or program manager regarding status of specific programs or work streams
  • Manage issue and risk items for program manager
  • Run program meetings and create meeting minutes and/or status reports in absence of program managers

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Gather information and perform analysis with partners from across the organization
  • Work with business users, business SMEs and IT to create business requirements and user stories that meet the needs of all stakeholders
  • Document and communicate all relevant information in a timely fashion, including information required to support remediation of issues and risks
  • Conduct business requirement/user story walk throughs and obtain stakeholder sign-off. Assist in prioritization process as needed
  • Effectively communicate with business users and partners to support the delivery of projects
  • Create & execute test plans, test cases, and detailed test scripts
  • Coordinate with BAs across multiple areas and programs as needed
  • Document key business processes, user experiences, and business rules to improve the digital servicing experience
  • Report on status vs. roadmaps, project plans, milestones, and budgets to ensure timelines and deliverables are met

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 2-5 years of related work experience with a consulting firm and/or in the insurance and financial industry, writing clear and concise business requirements and user stories
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Information Sciences or other quantitative field of study
  • Strong ability to elicit and document business requirements/user stories, and identify potential issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate clearly and effectively in support of detailed problem solving, managerial escalation and status reporting
  • Knowledge of SDLC's including exposure to SAFe Agile methodologies
  • Some knowledge of user experience concepts is helpful
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and partners, and work with multiple levels of management
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes changing priorities against aggressive schedules
  • Advanced skills in business management tools including: Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access and SharePoint
