We have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join our Southeast Portfolio Design Team. The successful candidate will work as part of multi-discipline project teams on various water and wastewater projects for municipal clients. Project work includes: supporting structural engineers and designers in the preparation of design calculations, contract drawings and project specifications; coordination with other engineering disciplines; and construction support services. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits.
Job Expectations:
  • Provide structural engineering design for tanks, basins and building facilities at water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Design concrete, steel and masonry structures per IBC.
  • Design concrete structures utilizing ACI 318 and ACI 350 for Environmental Structures.
  • Perform condition assessments of existing structures.
  • Prepare detailed design sketches, or work directly within CAD or Revit, and coordinate with designer staff to prepare 3-D models and design drawings.
  • Prepare construction specifications.
  • Coordinate structural project work with architects, process, mechanical, and electrical engineering staff.
  • Provide construction administration support: submittal review, RFI responses, and structural observations.
  • Utilize STAAD Pro, Enercalc and other software for structural design.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • General knowledge of concrete, steel and masonry structural design per IBC and referenced codes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering design required.
  • Structural design experience with wastewater treatment plant or industrial facilities.
  • B. S. degree in Civil Engineering (structural course work emphasis).
  • PE license required, SE license preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication essential.
