Description Power your future with Power Grid Engineering (PGE) in our Field Services department as a Senior or Lead Field Test Engineer who specializes in SCADA.
Our seasoned Field Test Engineers lead and perform testing/routine maintenance of Perform Configuration, Testing, Routine Maintenance of Transmission, Distribution, Substation & Power Plant SCADA/SIA systems & connected equipment. As a Senior or a Lead Field Test Engineer- SCADA, you will be responsible for:
  • Power Utility experience with installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of SCADA/SIA equipment including but not limited to PLCs, RTACs, and relays.
  • Perform installation and repair of relays and other misc. SCADA/SIA equipment
  • Provide local and remote technical support including occasional non-standard
  • The Test Engineer/Technician will have a good understanding of utility distribution, controls, and high voltage transmission systems
  • Updating connectivity and password protection for existing substation relays, DFR, and other equipment
  • Configure and install Switches and gateways
  • Configure different types of utility grade RTU's
  • Connect cables to existing relays and DFRs
  • Create as-built drawings
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Substation Relay/system testing, analysis, and SCADA/SIA systems.
  • Working knowledge of electricity and hazards posed by electrical equipment and conductors is required
  • Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage
  • Interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams; basic test skills to perform duties listed above, basic PC skills
  • Candidates must be able to perform physical activity such as pushing, pulling, lifting and bending in all types of weather extremes
  • Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Valid drivers license and good driving record
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience working in or near High Voltage Substations and systems preferred
  • 5+ years of experience configuring utility grade RTUs with SCADA/SIA systems preferred.
  • Relay testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and isolation experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with communication systems to relaying and DFR's in High Voltage substations and associated equipment preferred.
  • PLC Programming or RTAC programming experience
  • Quickly learn and apply test procedure for various types of substation equipment
  • Associate of Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection
  • Technical experience may be substituted in lieu of Technical Degree
