JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Nurse Manager works under the direction of the Manager to facilitate daily operations, including patient flow, staffing assignments, safe patient care, and to promote a healthy work environment at Children s.

Hughes Spalding

  • Hughes Spalding Emergency Department is a 27-bed department that is currently undergoing expansion. We are located in the heart of downtown Atlanta with Georgia State University, Sweet Auburn Market and Grady Hospital as neighbors. Small, but mighty! Our campus has multiple onsite clinics to serve Atlanta's growing population, including an award winning Asthma Center. In 2018, Hughes Spalding received the prestigious designation of Primary Medical Home (Tier 3) and the Radiology Department received Ultrasound Accreditation. We care for over 61,000 pediatric patients annually.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or will complete BSN within 2.5 years of hire. Effective March 1, 2020 BSN will be required as of hire

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) within 1 year of employment as required by department specifications
  • Certification within 2 years of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • 1 year of Clinical Nurse 3-5 level or management/administrative experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
