Covia is looking for a dynamic Electronics Technician who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Calera, AL location. This role will perform maintenance inspections, repairs and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment. This role is critical to achieving Plant OEE and Equipment Availability goals by elimination of unplanned stops and extended downtimes. Incumbents in the position are required to participate in company-sponsored training and certification programs to ensure that their job knowledge and skills meet evolving company standards.

At all times compliance with all MSHA and Company safety procedures and policies will be adhered to. This includes mandatory work place inspections, equipment inspections, and an absolute commitment to the SLAM (Stop, Look, Analyze, Manage) process which is required to be performed prior to any work that will be undertaken.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
* Must comply with company, state and governmental health and safety regulations at all times.
* Must complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner.
* Be able to perform preventive maintenance checks and report findings. (both verbally and in writing)
* Must participate in the work order initiation process when required.
* Must ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from Stores as per documented procedures.
* Must possess a good knowledge of AC power distribution systems, AC Theory, and circuit protection.
* Be well versed in the installation, maintenance and wiring of transformers.
* Be able to perform low voltage and medium voltage terminations.
* Be capable of performing maintenance on de-energized switchgear up to 4160 volts
* Be capable of troubleshooting and maintaining all types of motor starters.
* Be able to perform basic electrical calculations.
* Be able to perform tasks with all electrical test equipment. (volt meters, meggers, current generators, loop calibrators, etc.)
* Be experienced with Computer hardware configuration and repairs.
* Be able to fabricate and install conduit.
* Be able to perform soldering operations.
* Be able to test and troubleshoot DC motors and drives.
* Be able to test and troubleshoot AC motors and drives.
* Be able to install and align electrical motors.
* Be able to troubleshoot and maintain motor control circuits.
* Be able to calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain belt weighing devices.
* Be able to maintain and replace control valves, actuators and positioners.
* Be able to perform a range of physical activities such as climbing stairs and vertical ladders.
* Be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools. (micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
* Be willing to correctly complete work orders and checklists including signing and dating.
* Be familiar with thermography and fully understand the uses.
* Be able to troubleshoot and perform repairs to hydraulic systems.
* Be able to troubleshoot and perform repairs to pneumatics systems.
* Ensures maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary.
* Must possess and maintain a complete set of personal hand tools as per the documented tool list.
* Must perform post-job inspection to ensure a high level of housekeeping standards.
* Be able to operate small mobile equipment.
* Be willing to upgrade skills by participating in vendor training.
* Be willing to upgrade level of skills by participating in company-designated training.
* Be willing to train on any new equipment installations.
* Be willing to perform any other assigned tasks not specifically indicated.
* Must perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
* 3-5 years of experience required.
* Possess all required documentation if not a U.S. citizen.
* Must have post-secondary level electrical/electronics education or equivalent training & experience.
* Proficiency with at least 5 of the following controls technologies is fundamental; PLC5, ControlLogix, Wonderware Factory Suite, FactoryTalk Studio, Historian, TCP/IP/CIP Networking, and Analog instrumentation.
* Advanced programming and configuration experience with RSLogix, Remote I/O, and Wonderware applications is required and must be demonstrated. Experience with Rslogix FBD is desired
* Be physically capable of performing all required duties and able to function as a team member.
* Be able to work in high places and confined spaces.
* Be receptive to overtime and respond to call-outs outside of normal work times.
* Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Must complete electrical, basic networking, and industrial programming knowledge assessment.
* Be well versed on all aspects of electrical safety including current NFPA 70E.
* Be proficient with Binary and familiar with other Base-n number systems.
* Be a self-starter and possess good verbal communication skills.
* Must have adequate writing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
* Be able to read and interpret flow diagrams, electrical diagrams, and schematics.
* Be able to read and interpret electrical standards and codes including NFPA 70E and NEC.
* Experience in a heavy industrial environment would be an asset.
