Position Summary

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

• Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

• Other Accredited Program Diploma in Nursing required or
• (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing required
• (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• Other Accredited Program Diploma in Nursing required or
• (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing required or
• (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of nursing process and practice required
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices required
• 1 year RN experience required. Corrections, emergency services or med surg nursing experience preferred. This position is located at Portage County Jail.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio required and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required or obtained in nursing orientation
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Adult and Pediatric Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area standards.
