The Medical Laboratory Technician tests all types of laboratory specimens for all age groups from neonates to geriatric patients; reviews and reports lab results; performs operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical laboratory technicians, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR . The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR, Jan. 24, 2003

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 0-2 years as a medical laboratory technician.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified (registered) or registry-eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency, eg ASCP, HHS, AMT. Registry eligible should obtain certification within 1 year from date of hire. Once certified, no annual renewals are required.
