Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us.Executive Director, Medical Communications Immunoscience and NeurologyAs a core member of the Medical Communications Leadership Team, the Executive Director of Medical Imm/Neuro Communications is accountable for the following:Medical Communications Strategy:Establish a clear, viable, and compelling strategy for the Imm/Neuro -specific Medical Communications, aligned with overall Medical vision, strategy, and objectives, and ensure delivery of timely and high-quality medical publications, scientific content, and congress presentations worldwide.Own the pull-through and execution of the Scientific Narrative aligned with portfolio strategy, development & execution of functionally integrated publication plan, content plan, and application to the Scientific Communication Platform (SCP).

Strong partnership with WW Imm/Neuro, Market, and Field Medical leadership to fiercely prioritize and set objectives for the Medical Imm/Neuro Communications team.Leverage/partner with WW Capabilities for the integration of omnichannel, digital, and other enterprise/commercial capabilities and strategies.Lead development of personalized scientific communications and ensure timely journal submissions, publications, Congress presentations, and deliver of internal and external scientific content.

Must have strong business acumen, ability to interface with senior leaders to make trade-off decisions by managing Imm/Neuro -level Medical Communications OpEx budget and allocation of funds and resources to highest business priorities.Partner with the Scientific Communications & Engagement (SCE) teams to leverage external insights to inform medical communications planning.Data Dissemination:Serve as a subject matter expert to BMS internal audiences related to Imm/Neuro -level communication landscape, HCP preferences, publication and scientific content planning, data disclosure/dissemination, and represent BMS scientific communications to external investigators, key authors and journal editors.

Leverage personal & non-personal channels (social media) and social media listening to broaden reach of our scientific communications.Evolve templates, processes, tools (eg, DataVision), operating procedures and outsourcing strategy to ensure quality, consistent delivery, and alignment of standards across therapeutic areas worldwide.Impact Assessment:Partner with BI&A to establish clear metrics aligned to meeting customer needs and demonstrating desired outcomes of activities.

Regularly communicate metrics with key stakeholders.Apply innovative approaches to keep BMS Medical Communications in the forefront of advancing the science and maximizing BMS product value for our customers.Stakeholder Engagement:Foster collaborative relationships with academic & clinical experts, publishers, medical associations, and other relevant stakeholder groups.

Participate in external initiatives to foster trust and respect amongst academic and medical publishing community.Inform journal selections by leveraging data analytics and internal expertise. Ensure alignment with Authorship guidelines.

Lead internal components while managing communication agencies to deliver on our dynamic portfolio across all markets.People Leadership:Lead and manage a team of full-time and contract staff responsible for managing a dynamic set of personalized scientific communication deliverables with quality and rigor.Collaborate closely with the country and regional medical and commercial teams to ensure Medical Communications objectives are met, address challenges, and find innovative solutions related to capability, technology, and standards.

Ensure diversity and inclusion in decision making, organization, talent and career development.Technical SkillsAdvance scientific degree, PharmD, PhD, preferred.In-depth knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry, external compliance, transparency, and conflict-of-interest in regulated work environment.

Understanding of Good Publication Practices and guidance (GPP, ICMJE), Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct, and other guidance related to post-marketing practices and scientific data communication.Ability to analyze and interpret clinical data; understand clinical trial design and execution, statistical methods and clinical trial data reporting requirements.Solid understanding of personalized scientific communications and use of omni-channels.

Active member of ISMPP, and certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) highly desired.Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications, and familiarity with publication management tool (DataVision).Qualifications & Experience8 - 10 years of Pharmaceutical/Healthcare industry experience with a focus on Medical Communications in both local country and global capacity.

At least 5 years of experience of leading a large commercialization function; medical preferred.Position requires exceptional business acumen and ability to think strategically, impact and influence senior executives to drive optimal business results.Advanced leadership skills, experience in managing global/virtual teams, understanding of Research and Drug Development portfolio, and the ability to communicate data in an impactful way.

Demonstrated experience in leading medical & scientific information and publication teams across all phases of drug development and commercialization (early development, investigational, registration, pre & post-launch and marketed).Experience in managing third party resource models.Proven experience establishing strategic direction/vision for an organization, and proven ability to implement such vision; ability to take educated risk, rise above technical expertise; demonstrating judgement, wisdom and understanding of impact.

Proven experience in building high-performing teams and leading an organization through change.Ability to facilitate discussions and decision-making with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams; ability to influence and negotiate appropriate solutions; experience in project managing multiple priorities under tight time constraints and proven ability to establish strong stakeholder relationships (internal and external).Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications, and familiar with publication management tool (DataVision).
