This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Medical Occupations to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Overview
Hospital office work environment at WRNMMC. Radiology is a specialized academic practice with a GME program. Standard duty day 0830-1630 with intermittent evening swing shifts, morning readout shifts with residents, and overnight/weekend call. Weekend call approximately 3-4 weekends per year.
Responsibilities
- Interpret diagnostic imaging modality exams such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography and nuclear scintigraphy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, to assist and direct clinical care plans.
- Re-evaluate incoming studies of patients transferred from other facilities to determine accuracy of diagnosis.
- Instruct radiology personnel in technique, position and projection.
- Oversee development of imaging service protocols to achieve best practice standards.
- Implement standard clinical practices and initiate new techniques, methods and research protocols to evaluate imagining issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (eg, ALS) does not supersede BLS.
