Testers - Satellite Terminals/VSAT (Contract)

Location: Washington DC Maryland Country: United States of America Rate: $ Negotiable based on experience
 

Flint are currently looking for highly motivated, self-sufficient individuals to Integrate and Test (I&T) next generation networks. You will be responsible for taking programme requirements and applying real-life customer scenarios to test, validate, and accept functions from an end to end (E2E) perspective. Requires core understanding of VSAT (Hub and User Terminal) and IP fundamentals. Participates in testing campaigns and events which include establishing planning tests, develop test requirements, writing I&T procedures and reports, and conducting tests utilizing comprehensive knowledge of these VSAT systems and how they integrate with external subsystems within the business. Participates in I&T readiness reviews and in design reviews. Utilizes a broad knowledge of precedents in I&T engineering and applies understanding of principles of related engineering and software technology to ensure test validity and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and current operational scenarios and develop test plans and procedures
  • Participating and support portions of a test campaigns
  • Participate in meetings and demonstrations to understand the features and develop thorough test cases to cover the full aspect of the feature/capability under test (negative testing, performance testing, scalability testing, etc)
  • Reporting to leadership the status of campaigns and making recommendations and decisions during the campaign
  • Coordinating installation of test terminals and equipment. Managing a global test network of reference terminals
  • Executing I&T campaigns integrating the GX5 system with subsystems (OSS/BSS/Network Management)

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong background with Linux/Unix and Software Testing
  • Knowledge of IP Concepts (TCP/UDP, Multicast, Routing, subnetting)
  • Knowledge of VSAT concepts (DVB-S2, TDMA, link budgets)
  • Experience
  • Work with project team, engineering, and operations to identify and document test cases based on current GX operations using JIRA.
  • Experience with test software (JIRA, Zephyr, Jamma Contour)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Engineering
  • Create test cases and test plans for integration and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Execute test cases, document test results, and create defects using both manual and automated testing.
  • Create and maintain test result reports for each major test campaign
  • Collaborate with systems and development staff to collect and interpret technical information.
  • Ensure final documents are usable and of high quality.
  • Capture bugs and the details to recreate the bug to pass back to engineers
  • Self-organized and able to work unsupervised
  • Good Communication and people skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship management expertise

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with VSAT hub and modems and systems
  • Experience with VSAT user terminals/antennas
  • Experience with Software Defined Networks
  • Experience with traffic generators (Spirent, Ixia)
  • DevOps and VMWare experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Agile development framework (Scrum, CI/CD, Automation)
  • Customer Experience
  • Experience with automation and Scripting (Python, Jenkins, Mango, etc)
