Facilities Maintenance Cleaner (Full Time)

Location: Hampton Virginia Country: United States of America Rate: $21,546 - $24,627

Salary Range: $21,546 - $24,627

Performs a variety of facilities cleaning tasks. This position is responsible for cleaning and trash removal at Hampton Roads Transit facilities, including passenger amenities at transit stations and stops, and providing quality assurance and control oversight at certain locations being cleaned by contractors.

Essential Job Functions:

(Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.)

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedure.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe surfaces, including fixtures/furniture, window sills, railings, etc.
  • Sweep and mop floors; vacuum carpets.
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows.
  • Empty/clean waste containers and dispose in appropriate dumpsters.
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, trainings, conferences, events, etc.
  • Lock and unlock assigned facilities; secure facilities when not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows; report any unauthorized occupants; turn off lights.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within 25 of buildings and transit shelters using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary.
  • Submit Facilities Maintenance work orders when problems are identified.
  • Safely operate all vehicles and other job related equipment.
  • Comply with all related Hampton Roads Transit policies and procedures.
  • Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policy and Procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a general awareness of HRT's EMS
  • Responsible for handling all related job responsibilities in accordance to HRT's Environmental Policy, relevant EMS Standard Operating Procedures, and Emergency Management Plan
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:
Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures. Ability to perform recurring tasks independently. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to operate a vehicle. Ability to oversee work performed by cleaning contractors and provide effective oral communication.

Required Software Knowledge and Skills essential to Job Functions:
Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is essential. Basic problem solving skills associated with software applications used is expected. Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.

Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures and policies. Take an active part in reporting unsafe conditions and any hazards within the workplace to their Supervisor, Manager and/or the Safety Department.

Training and/or Education:
High school diploma or GED certificate required.

Required Experience:
One year of general work experience.

Licenses or Certificates:
Virginia Driver's License

Work requires some bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, lifting and carrying (up to 75 lbs.).
