This position is responsible for implementing and supporting network infrastructure systems primarily focused on the Cisco platform, along with related Data Center technologies in order to support the requirements of the Nielsen business processes, applications, and systems. The networking team members are accountable for full life cycle of our global Data Centers, worldwide office locations networking infrastructure, support for our global WAN, and supporting the business requirements as they evolve. The team is also accountable for establishing best practices for infrastructure operations.

Candidates should be proficient in Cisco Route/Switch Platforms, Cisco Wireless Platforms, WAN technologies, Monitoring solutions, and have some Checkpoint Security and Content Delivery Platform experience. Candidates will work directly with network Administrators to solve complex problems, manage the day to day tasks, and project implementations.

Accountabilities

  • Implements, maintains, optimizes, and supports network infrastructure technologies, including Cisco NEXUS 9K, 7K, and 5K Data Center Switches, Cisco 3000, 4500, & 9000 Series Catalyst Switches, Cisco ASR 1000 series and ISR 3900/4300 series Routers, Cisco Wireless Technologies and Centralized Controllers. Riverbed Platforms, F5 Big IP and various load balancers, WAN network technologies such as VPN, MPLS, PPP, Internet Services, and Cloud Interconnects are required.

  • Operates and maintain advanced Cisco tool and application aware technologies, such as Tertration and StealthWatch

  • Operate and maintain advanced Data Center features such as ACI and Identity Services (ISE)

  • Platform monitoring & management services such as ManageEngine, LogicMonitor, InfoBlox IPAM, and other platform management tools

    • Installs and configures infrastructure management systems and related software, while working closely and coordinating with hardware, network, and operating system administrators. Ensures all software is kept up to date and fully supported by the manufacturer

    • Develops tactical and capacity plans, standards, guidelines and policies based on growth, trends and available metrics

    • Contributes and maintains physical and logical network standards.

    • Practice and provide oversight of network asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

    • Performs production support of network infrastructures according to service-level agreements. Understands crisis management and escalation procedures and participates when relevant.

    • Execution and oversight of network improvements, upgrades and repairs

    • Monitor ticket queues, troubleshoot and resolve assigned tickets. Verify with customer that issue is resolved to satisfaction

  • Participates on project teams:

    • Provides data and infrastructure consulting services to project teams throughout the project life cycle. Services include reviewing and assisting with development of application scripts and procedures as requested.

    • Guides and mentors fellow infrastructure administrators and engineers and project team members on network-related topics while emphasizing performance and tuning.

    • Project execution including partnering with project management, risk management, quality testing, documentation and training

    • Assists project teams with system installation and upgrade implementation plans, and performs implementation tasks as appropriate.

  • Documents infrastructure knowledge using appropriate mechanisms and tools:

    • Produces and manages required infrastructure documentation including infrastructure system dependencies, network and components, backup and maintenance plans, and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience More than 5 years' experience. Industry Certification or equivalent knowledge on Cisco Systems (as noted above) and F5 Technologies required

  • Proficient knowledge of operating system administrative concepts.

  • Experience in production support processes and problem resolution according to service-level agreements.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure architecture and infrastructure planning.

  • Experience with software development artifacts such as logical data models, data flow diagrams, and application query use cases for the purpose of developing physical infrastructure designs.
