Cognos BI Report Analyst (Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £35k - 45k per year + benefits
 

Cognos BI Analyst sought by well known high street brand. The Cognos BI analyst provides reporting services, data validation and operational process checks as a regular duty. The BI Analyst will however focus on developing reports to meet business requirements, championing the Business Intelligence services team and being the users' 'friendly face' of BI.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface between end users and key stakeholders and the 3rd party development and support partnership.
  • Seek creative ways to deliver reporting and data insight
  • Ensure that key business reporting processes run on-time and are accurate.
  • Report building using Cognos Report Studio using the latest IBM Cognos BI suite - Cognos Analytics/v11
  • Dashboard creation and optimisation
  • Provide help and training for key business users
  • Identifying technical reporting issues and taking appropriate action to ensure resolution in a timely manner.
  • Where possible handle issue to resolution, by implementing a known fix or workaround.
  • Escalate and assign more complex issues to the wider 3rd line resolver group or to a third-party supplier.
  • Take ownership of the support incident, ensuring end-user is updated regularly via the incident management process.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation.
  • Adherence to Change Control processes and procedures.
  • To periodically validate the data and report outputs for accuracy.

Experience Required:

  • Cognos report writing experience using Cognos Report Studio
  • Some SQL Scripting experience
  • Appetite to learn and develop knowledge of building end to end BI and data warehousing solutions

Desirable experience

  • Cognos Framework Manager experience
  • Understanding of OLAP, Kimball methodology and transactional database design
  • Knowledge of the fundamental ITIL principles.
