The Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals (RDPH) require a new team member in the O&G department. This is an opportunity to join a diverse and growing service that incorporates multiple sites including RDPH, Gove and Katherine Hospitals, as well as outreach services to remote communities across the Top End. The Royal Darwin Hospital is a 360 bed hospital and is the tertiary facility for the NT. It services a dispersed population of approximately 140,000 and supports around 2000 births per year.
We are a unit that has a strong focus on engagement with the broader health services of the Top End. We have established collaborations with the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, provide antenatal telehealth services to community midwives and train and support the GP obstetricians who serve our rural hospitals.
We uphold a responsibility to train the next generation of health practitioners and partner with the medical school at Flinders University and support all levels of RANZCOG training. We have highly motivated junior doctors establishing a PVOG group, and a growing advanced DRANZCOG program. We are also an accredited RANZCOG specialist training site with basic trainees rotating to us for exposure to rural practice and advanced trainees looking to start forging a career here in the Top End.
The collaboration with the internationally renowned Menzies School of Health Research has strengthened the department's engagement in research and clinical innovation, and all team members are encouraged to participate in the developing Women's Health and Wellbeing Research Program.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, an ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, and a demonstrated commitment to Indigenous Health.
