Who We Are

CLEVELAND CHRISTIAN HOME
Cleveland Christian Home exists to be a haven of hope and healing to children,
youth and families struggling with mental illness, abuse, and neglect.
(Mission Statement)

Cleveland Christian Home is a secular non-profit (501-c-3) organization specializing in providing treatment for difficult and at-risk child and youth populations, including youth requiring 24-hour supervision and those involved with the juvenile justice system. CCH is a critical organization to Cuyahoga County’s system of community mental health care. It serves approximately 6% of all youth in the county who require out-of-home care, and operates the only post-independent living program for 18-22 year olds who have aged out of the foster care system. Each year CCH supports more than 500 families through its mission to provide “a haven of hope and healing for children, youth and families struggling with mental illness, abuse and neglect.” CCH maintains a highly-qualified staff of professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employment specialists, physicians and nurses. It offers a broad range of intensive services, including Transitional Employment, Counseling, Family Preservation, Residential Treatment, and Independent Living. The FY 2011 budget is over $8.5 million.
Cleveland Christian Home serves children and families in the following programs:

Residential Treatment and Partial Hospitalization – specialized residential services for boys aged 6 to 17 who are struggling with emotional and behavioral disturbances because of severe abuse or neglect

Hope Center - specialized residential services for boys who have been sexually abused and have become sexually aggressive due to being exposed to inappropriate sexual influences at a young age

Outpatient Counseling - therapy for children, teens, adults and families who are experiencing difficulties and/or are recovering from the effects of abuse or neglect

Family Services - community-based services designed to prevent abuse and neglect and preserve and strengthen families

Agape Independent Living - services for young adults ages 17-21 -- especially teen mothers -- who can no longer live in foster care or with their natural families and who are about to leave child welfare custody

School-Based Counseling - services for at-risk children in the Cleveland Municipal Schools who might not otherwise receive counseling

Transitional Job/Youth Employment Program - employment and training opportunities for young adults ages 16 – 21 who are disengaged from the educational system and/or at risk of homelessness, unemployment, poor health, and the temptations of drug and alcohol abuse

System of Care - CCH is a Care Coordination Partner working with Cuyahoga Tapestry System of Care to serve children and their families who have serious emotional needs that severely disrupt relationships; have needs that require many sources of support that cannot be met by traditional services; and are at risk of more intensive involvement with CuyahogaCounty’s child serving systems.

Our administrative offices and program sites are largely located throughout the west side of Cleveland. All programs are neighborhood-based and easily accessible by freeway and public transportation. We have a dedicated, highly skilled and culturally diverse staff consisting of licensed counselors and social workers, case managers, child care workers and support staff. Medical, psychiatric and psychological services complement the broad range of clinical services offered to families and children.
