Employee Relations Policy & Change Consultant (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £700 - £750 per day
 

Legal & General are currently looking for an Employee Relations Policy & Change Consultant to play a crucial role in supporting the ER policy and change management activities for the Group.

For the right candidate, we can offer £750 p/d inside of IR35 (plus 17.3% Umbrella uplift) to join L&G on a 26-week contract. The team are based out of the L&G office in Cardiff and attendance will also be required at the office in London - L&G offers hybrid working with time split between working from home and the office, we are looking for candidates who are willing to travel to both sites as and when required.

Reporting into the Head of ER Strategy & Policy, you will advise on collective consultations and change management, and where required, support the wider HR function on change management topics such as TUPE and redundancy activity.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Provide advice and guidance to HR colleagues on existing ER policies and brief the HR community on upcoming changes to legislation and market practice when appropriate, supporting HRBPs with change management processes such as TUPE and consultations.
  2. As a subject matter expert, provide advice and guidance to HR on collective consultation requirements for change projects, including redundancy and TUPE consultations. Ensure the collateral to support collective consultation are kept up to date and in-line with our partnership principles. Provide training and advice to HR on the use of the materials when required.
  3. Protect L&G's reputation and encourage positive relationships through ensuring an effective, ongoing partnership between HR, UNITE and the business.
  4. Support the Head of ER strategy and policy in change projects and consultations, which will include facilitation of consultation meetings with Unite and MCF.
  5. Represent ER Strategy and Policy team on ad-hoc group projects when required. Offering subject matter expertise.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, knowledge, and skills:

  • A detailed and strong understanding of:
    • Employment legislation, HR policies and procedures.
    • Industrial relations and collective consultation, including demonstrable experience of leading consultations with Unions and collective bodies, as well as managing change programmes (including TUPEs).
    • Policy development and implementation, including researching, writing, and managing implementation of policy change.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders with different priorities and perspectives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others in support of business initiatives.
  • Excellent organisation, research, and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Good commercial awareness of the organisation and the challenges and opportunities it faces within the context of HR.
  • Ability to identify, interpret and analyse key HR information for the purposes of providing suitable solutions and influencing business decisions.
  • Experience of:
    • Working with Unions or in a Unionised environment.
    • Managing or supporting redundancy/TUPE/merger activities.
    • Writing ER policies, or strong desire to develop capability if experienced in Union experience and change management.
    • Managing a complex and varied workload.
  • Ability to lead without authority when managing projects without direct line manager accountability.
  • Experience within financial services is advantageous but not essential.
